Aside from day 1, this experience wasn’t that bad.
So I’m back from the hospital and thankful for the gymboss we bought way before the surgery or I’d be forgetting to drink an ounce every five minutes. I think that is the toughest part so far for me, is drinking a small sip of water so often. I wasn’t much of a water drinker to begin with.
I slept a good chunk of the first 2 days I was in the hospital. They took me off of my IV mid day 2 so I started taking water and juice by mouth. Apple juice didn’t sit well with me at first until I diluted it. Once I did a half and half mix, it worked well. They also offered cranberry juice but I didn’t like it. Its a little too harsh for me, taste wise.
Day 1 I dealt with a good amount of pain, not so much from the little laproscopic incisions (there are 6 and they don’t look too bad) but from the gas. No one told me about that so it came as a surprise to me. Seems they pump you full of gas during the surgery in order to make room (I guess) to work and you spend the next day or so burping that gas up. Every burp on day 1 is not pleasant. Freshly cut stomachs and burping creates a good deal of pain. By day 2 it was merely uncomfortable but tolerable. The more you walk, the more the gas comes up so walking is both good and bad for a bit but the sooner the gas comes up the better.
OK I think its time for me to walk a bit and then lay down. I’m still pretty tired from surgery.
